Emma is now 6 months old. Time is going fast, it was just last week she was born, doesn’t it seem? She changes almost daily. Getting so vocal on her likes and dislikes… Shopping she likes, riding in the car she dislikes… sleeping in Grandma’s arms, she likes, sleeping in her crib, she dislikes… eating her cereal with fruit, she likes, watching us eat anything without tasting it, she dislikes. Today Brianna and I ate at the Olive Garden. We decided to have the chocolate tort for dessert. Emma had to have a taste of it. I think we have another Chocoholic on hand. She loved it. She was so cute tasting it, one of the waitresses had to come over and watch her take a bite of it.

We went shopping, which excited Emma as soon as we walked into the mall. She really got a kick out of the Easter Bunny. She was so excited in line, I thought she was about to jump out of my arms at him. Then it dawned on me… she thought he was a big stuffed animal and grandma was going to buy him for her!! She giggled as we put her on his lap. She is so fun.

We had her 6 mo pictures taken at Sears. Wow.. They turned out so cute. She loved getting her picture taken. She is turning into a little ham for sure. We had 3 different dresses for her to wear and also a washtub picture where she wore only her diaper. I worried she would start getting fussy with all the changing, but she did great all through the session. It was very hard to decide which picture we liked the best.

When we went to Kmart we were picking out things for her for Easter. We bought her a cute little duck basket. We showed her the lamb, the duck and the bunny, letting her choose which one she wants. She liked the duck best… penguins and ducks.. She is a bird watcher. We also went to the toy isle. She wanted a lot of different toys, but the Elmo toys were her favorite. She loves Elmo. I was good, I didn’t splurge on the $50 New Tickle Me Elmo. Maybe for her birthday. She did get a couple Elmo toys which will be for Easter, and some books, ok and a toy for the high chair and a vibrating rattle, which she loves. I have a feeling though that she will be one I will have spoiled in the stores that she will throw a fit when I do start saying “no” to her. I guess maybe I should cut back some now before that happens. Brianna makes me keep the noisy toys here though.

Tomorrow we will watch Happy Feet. She loves penguins so she should like it. It looks like a cute movie.

It is so hard to believe that Emma is almost 6 months old already. She is growing so fast and just gets more fun every day. She enjoys little things like the dog scratching or the cat laying in the sun or Grandma talking to her on the phone. She doesn’t know for sure where I am though. She smiles big when I ask her if she wants to go shopping and loves picking out new toys.

Emma is sitting up now. She does good for a few minutes then tips over. I get such a kick out of her. She loves this duck that dances and sings “Disco Duck” My kids will all tell how I use to put that song on (I have it in a 45... That is a single song record for those who don’t know) and make them dance to it all the time. I should do that with Emma too.

Brianna was telling me that the other morning about 5am she was woken up with a start. While laying in bed she heard Emma moving around through the monitor and then she heard a man say “Wake Up!” She laid there wondering if she had really heard it when she heard the man say again “WAKE UP!!” This panicked Brianna who thought there was a man in Emma’s room and she ran in there. Emma had rolled herself over on to her belly and wedged her head between the mattress and the Aquarium crib toy that hangs on the side of her crib. We think it was Emma’s Guardian Angel who woke Brianna up to help Emma. It warms my heart to know that she is being watched so carefully. They moved the aquarium so it won’t be a danger anymore. Thank you God for watching over our little Emma.

We are going to have pictures taken for her 6 mo mark next week. It was hard waiting this long, but I did keep my promise to her.

I don’t know who cracks me up more… Emma or Brianna. Today I finally got Emma to sleep for a nap and Brianna stopped by while running errands for work with a co worker. She went in and got Emma up so she could show her to the co worker, then claims she was awake when she went in there. So I have been teasing her all afternoon.

Emma has started sucking her thumb now. Brianna doesn’t like that at all. Today she told Emma “don’t suck your thumb… we aren’t going to go through that” So Emma stuck her big toe in her mouth and started sucking on it. I said “yuck Emma, that is yucky” and Emma smiled at me and said “mmmm” then smacked her lips. It was so cute.

Jordan is away for school this week. Emma misses him when he is away. She is a daddy’s girl.

Brianna was looking through wedding dresses on the net today. We also looked at the flower girls dresses. There is a lot of cute ones. Maybe we will have a wedding this summer yet.

We went for a walk yesterday and Emma thought it was pretty funny seeing Tara on a leash. She sure loves that dog. She would see her and just laugh and laugh. I also gave her a tootsie pop. Emma loved that, but didn’t realize that you need to swallow so she slobbered it all over her and me alike.

Just for you Aunt Cassie

Two Teeth

March 8, 2007

Emma is still the sunshine of my life. She is so fun and loveable and all around perfect. She is growing so fast though. Almost 6 mo old, and I thought time flew by when my kids were infants.

Know what touches my heart with Emma, how no matter how I sing out of tune, how much I mess up the words, she still looks at me like I am the world’s best singer! How can you not tear up when you see such wonderful absolute love shining in the eyes of the dearest gift God can give you?

I bought a little basketball hoop and balls for her bath. She was really enjoying the balls, holding them and spinning them in the water. Then I took one and there is a little face on it, two eyes and a mouth… and when you squeeze it, it fills with water that you squirt out through the mouth. So I squirted her little belly. She looked at it with such disgust, like it spit on her or something. She puckered up like she was going to cry and wanted out of the bath. How I wish I knew what was going through her mind. I couldn’t help but laugh, it wasn’t the reaction I thought I would get with it. At least she thought it was the ball which was being so mean squirting her, not grandma!

Cassie tells me I am not doing a good job since I haven’t gotten pictures of her teeth yet for the site. I will try to get some and post them when I do.
