Emma has still got to be the most imaginative funny child. I don’t know where she comes up with what she does, but she always says something that makes you stop and wonder.
Emma was impressing her daddy with her knowledge of some Chinese words. She told him how to say Jump in Chinese, how to say thank you and how to say grandpa. So when she let out a scream “Ahhhhh” she asked “do you want me to say it in Chinese, Daddy?” He said “yes” so she let out another scream “Ahhhh” just like the first! After we were done laughing about it Jordan said “what’s so bad is that she is right!”
I was going to make scrambled eggs for Emma for breakfast and told her to tell me how to make them. She said “ you put the eggs in a bowl and add a little sugar and some flour and don’t forget the milk then you stir stir stir and cook them in the oven” So I put the eggs in the bowl and went to get the milk out and as I turned around there she was with a broken egg in her little hand looking at it and telling me “Grandma, this egg is melting in my hand”
Emma and I spent the day out at my parents one day. I am not sure who enjoyed it more, Grandma Mert and Grandpa Lee or Emma. She fell asleep on the way back into town and I had to wake her up to go into the store. She didn’t like being woke up and told me she was “frustrated” I said “yes, you are tired aren’t you?” She said “Yes, grandma and grandpa wore me out today!”
Bailey’s adoption by Jarrod went through February 10th and there was a party for her on the 14th. I took Emma with us out there and she and Bailey had a great time. She really loved holding baby Sean and would pull on his legs when she wanted me to hold him down close enough for her to see him. The girls held him on a chair and drove him crazy by smothering him with kisses. His great grandpa told him to get use to it.
The girls were sitting in a chair chewing gum when Emma’s fell out of her mouth. I grabbed it up before it could get tangled in her hair and took it to the trash. Emma complained that now she didn’t have any gum. As I was out throwing it away, I heard Bailey’s great grandma Helen say “Oh.. NO… oops too late!” Yep, sweet little Bailey felt bad that Emma didn’t have any gum now and shared half of hers with Emma! Brianna said she would have been ok not hearing about that but how can I not share something sooooo funny?
Last spring Brianna and I found a dress on clearence for Emma and I am going to embroider on it for her. I looked through designs with Emma and asked what she wanted on it… puff the magic dragon…. On a girls little dress?? So I found some Dragon Tales designs and asked her if she wanted Puff the magic dragon or dragon tales. She, of course, chose Dragon Tales, her new favorite cartoon. So I figured I could put Cassie, the cute little pink dragon on it… nope, Emma wants Ord on it. Ord is a big, not to bright dragon that is blue and has purple spikes. Emma said he is funny. I suggested putting all of them on there but nope, she wants just Ord, so much for a girly dress! I also decided maybe I would put the little chant that Max and Emmy do when they go to Dragon land. I knew it starts out “I wish I wish with all my heart to fly with Dragons?? But wasn’t sure of the rest. It turns out that it is “to the land apart” but I had Brianna ask Emma first and Emma finished it in Emma fashion “To the land we fart!”
At Children’s sermon on the 14th, Rev Dave asked the kids “Do you know what love is?” Emma had her answer right away.. She answered “My grandma and grandpa!… See there is my grandma right there!” pointing to me. To me, Emma is the true meaning of Love.
Emma also surprised me last weekend when she started talking about her “new friend” at Grandma Neil’s. His name is Gordo and he is lots of fun and plays ring around the rosie with her. I figured it was a new kid in the neighborhood and asked her if he lived close to Grandma Neil’s. She said “No grandma, he died and lives with Jesus”. I said “oh he does?” She said “yes, remember grandma when I died and he helped me come to life?” I thought about when she was a baby and rolled face down under the crib toy and how Brianna heard the male voice coming over the baby monitor ordering her to wake up. Is Gordo part of Emma’s wild imagination or is he Emma’s guardian angel here to help her through the stress and changes of her parents separation? Brianna doesn’t know where she got the name Gordo, they know no one with that name and Brianna said she had started this playing with Gordo a couple weeks earlier. It makes a person wonder.
