More Easter

Easter 2008

Easter was so much fun this year. Emma was really excited about the egg hunting. Saturday she went to Grandma Marla’s and Grandpa Ron’s for a egg hunt with cousin Owen. They are only a few months apart and they really enjoyed it by the sounds of it. Afterwards, we had a birthday party for Grandpa Lee at their house. He turned 70 on the same day Emma turned 18 months. (March 27). She was so pretty in her pink dress.

Easter dinner was here at my house. Emma got a Easter basket and got to hunt eggs here. Cassie had spent the night with them. Emma really got into enjoying all that candy. She really didn’t have a lot before Brianna put a stop to it. She was busy all day with everyone there and so tired! She took a little nap after everyone left though. We had 26 here for dinner and so much good food!

Emma loved looking for the eggs. When she would miss one everyone would try to steer her that way. Finally after her walking past it a few times, Tara took it upon herself to go get the egg and drop it by Emma’s basket! I had to laugh at Emma all day. She is such a natural entertainer. She does the funniest things.

Happy Easter to my angel baby, I love you very much!

I was going to write this Easter night but after a house full (26 of us) I wasn’t up to it. Emma is now 18 months old. She is growing up so fast. I look at her and think she looks more like a 2 year old rather then a 1 year old. She is still sick. They took her to the doctor yesterday and was put on antibiotics. We are going to try to get her picture taken again after we get her well. Hopefully this next week.
Emma is so funny. She knows what she wants and will not ask for it with words but will take your hand and pull you up to lead you to what she wants. She will get her point across on her desires. If you try to get her to use her words she will just get mad at you and make her “ahh” sounds. She can talk. Tonight she was watching Tara and I said “who is that?” She said “Tara” just as plain as can be. Brianna told me that the other day she came up to her and said “Juice please” out of the blue. I think she likes having the control of choosing when she will talk.
Tonight she was picking on Tara so much that she got a little swat from mommy and even one from Grandma when she didn’t stop with momma’s swat. Breaks my heart to do that and it doesn’t seem to work at all. I am afraid she will harm Tara and Tara will bite her. When she didn’t stop, I sat her on the couch and told her to stay there for a time out. Now trying to keep that child still for any amount of time is pure torture on her. Time out seems to work. Of course we will only do the age time out thing. She had to sit there for a minute and half while we talked and didn’t pay attention to her. She did sit there and took her punishment, crying the whole time. After the minute and half I picked her up and hugged her and told her that if Tara gets mad at her she might bite her hand like that little boy did. Emma’s eyes got big and it seemed to get through to her. She left Tara alone the rest of the night. We will see if she has learned when she is here tomorrow while Brianna works.
Today they went over to Kaydence’s 4th birthday party. Emma loved being in her princess dress and Brianna said she really loved being in her swimming suit. They had a party at the Best Western and went swimming. Emma didn’t like the pool very well though. She was pretty worn out when they got home. It sounded like it was a wonderful party.
I went to the home show and brought back a little plastic hard hat for her. Also a Liberty crown like the statue of Liberty. She loved them both. She was so cute wearing them. She is the prettiest, sweetest, most lovable child, even when she can be a bit ornery!

Poor Emma, she didn’t feel well when we went to Rapid on Wednesday. She has this darn cold and of course the day we have scheduled pictures, she is having her worst day! We should have cancelled, but we thought she might be ok once she slept on the way over. We got there early and went to find her some new shoes… she was doing great. Then we went to see the Easter Bunny, she was excited and couldn’t wait to get up there. Last week she didn’t have any trouble with seeing him in the Casper mall so we figured all was good. When she got up there she took one close up look and screamed. There was no way she was going to sit with the Easter bunny, not next to him, not next to him on her mommas lap even. Finally we left figuring we would try again. So we went to Sears, dressed her in her pretty Easter dress and put her barrettes in her hair. She oooed and awed in the mirror and we went to the studio. She watched the little girls before her get their pictures taken. Then it was her turn. We went into the room and she started screaming. There was no way she was going to get her picture taken! After we tried different things we finally told them we need to reschedule when she is feeling better. Then we took her to lunch, to play in the play center and all that we hate other mothers doing that exposes our children to their colds, but we wanted to see if we could get her in a good mood. Which we did, she was happy shopping and looking around. Then we went to try the Easter Bunny again. She didn’t want out of the stroller at all. She sit in it and wanted it buckled. Finally I put the stroller next to the Easter bunny and we distracted her long enough to get a quick picture. Memories aren’t always perfect are they?

Today Emma spent the day with me while Jordan and Brianna ran errands and worked on Brianna’s car. We had a really good time. We dyed Easter Eggs. Out of 2 and half dozen we only had 3 causalities. Two of them were my doing! Emma loved the coloring of them. She wanted to dunk her hands in the dye to pull out the egg and didn’t like that I wouldn’t let her. She did well though, didn’t fight it at all. After wards I peeled one of the causalities and gave her a bite. She wasn’t impressed. She likes them better in the shell with the pretty colors. Jordan and Brianna are going to dye some tonight with her.

Emma is learning to pick up her toys. She will get them out and if you ask her, she will put them away before getting more out. I had to laugh though when she was playing with her telephone. She made it ring, answered it saying “hello” very plainly. Then she talked a little bit on it and hung up. I said “oh you didn’t say “bye”, you just hung up on them!” So she looked at the phone and then waved bye to it!

For someone who doesn’t talk or let you know she can talk, she knows how to sing along with her songs that play the alphabet song. Today she was singing along with it and you could understand most of the letters. I do believe she is holding out on us!

She was going to spend the night with me last night. She was excited until her momma walked out the door. She screamed and tried to get out the door. I caught Brianna before she got into the car and sent Emma home with her. She was fine with Jordan and Brianna leaving her several times today though. She even took a very good nap for me in her crib. Now when I say “how much does Grandma love you” if she is in the mood she will spread out her hands with me and I will say “this much” and she will just giggle then hug me. She is such a sweetheart.

March 18, 2008

Emma is almost 18 months now. She is growing up so fast. She refuses to talk for most part, but will surprise us with saying things once in a while. Yesterday I got out the camera to get a picture of her all dressed up for St. Patrick’s day. She is such a ham. She would pose and she would tell me “Cheese” every time she seen the camera. I think we had to take 10 to 15 pictures before she was satisfied. Hope she is in the mood for her pictures tomorrow since we are taking her for her 18 month photos and to see the Easter Bunny.

She also had to help with us cleaning the house. She is so funny. I gave her a cloth and she helped dust off the chairs in the kitchen. She also likes to stand on the chairs and “cook”. I had her help me make cookies and banana bread so she really wants to help now. She was putting all kind of ingredients into the mixing bowl while I was doing dishes. We had “cookies” with little forks, shelf brackets, spoons, anything she found in her reach. She also got out a cookie sheet and a cookie cutter. She has a wonderful imagination. Tonight she had to watch while I made the Spaghetti Sauce . Rachael Ray was always one of her favorite shows to watch, so maybe we have a professional chef in the making. I remember the first time I had her daddy help me make cookies. He was a little older then what Emma is. I said “Jordan should we make some cookies?” His eyes got big and he said “You mean we can make cookies HERE?” I guess I had been buying packaged cookies a bit to much.

Last night I told Emma to sneak up on Grandpa while he was watching TV and scare him. She crawled from the steps to his chair, trying to be sneaky so he wouldn’t see her coming. Would have worked too, had she not giggled all the way over! When she got there he turned and said “RRRRR” , she laughed and said “rrrrr” in her cute little voice. I still laugh when I think of her “sneaking” with that little giggle. She has to be one of the cutest little girls ever!
She likes watching ‘Bindi the jungle girl’ She is the daughter of Steven Erwin, the crocodile hunter from Australia. Bindi is about 5 or 6 in the shows I think. She will have little dances like the “tiger dance” and the “elephant dance” which Emma gets to moving right with them. She is so funny, one of these times I will get her on video dancing with them.

Cassie bought Emma a little crown, clip on earrings and necklace set. Emma even wore them long enough for Cassie to get a picture of her in them. She is such a ham. I think Cassie is too!

Princess Emma

Jordan has school in Casper this week so Emma and Brianna went with him. It is nice for them to spend the week with him, after all the weeks he has been going to Rawlins. Emma misses him so much when he is away.
Emma is such a card. I get such a kick out of her. She won’t talk hardly at all, but will grab you by the shirttail and lead you to where she wants to go. She will always get her point across and will refuse to say any words you try to get her to say. Sometimes she surprises us with a clear word. Right now it is “uh oh” that she likes saying and says it often. I bought her some Easter cookies and sent them home with her when they left my house. Brianna gave her one that night and then sit them on the counter. The next morning she waddled out to the kitchen while Jordan and Brianna were in the living room visiting. Soon they heard a crash and a “uh oh”. They went out and found she had pulled the cookies down and they were all over the floor as she sit in the middle eating a cookie. Then she went and found a Kleenex and tried to clean up the cookie mess. Brianna said she couldn’t get after her with her being so cute!
Emma likes to play with my flashlight. I teased her and had her blow on it and would turn it on when she did… then I would turn it off when she blew on it again. A few days later she brought me her little night time pooh bear that’s face lights up and plays music. The batteries ran down and it wasn’t working. I said “what’s wrong?” She looked at it and blew on it… again and again. I don’t know if she was just telling me with actions it wasn’t lighting up or if she thought blowing on it would light it up. Anyway we changed batteries and she blew on it and it worked!
Emma was hitting on her momma and Brianna said “Don’t hit Emma, it isn’t nice” She hit Brianna a couple more times then reached over and hit me. I said in a gruff voice “if you hit me I will hit you back!” She wouldn’t have anything to do with me after that. Broke my heart to think she would think I would actually hit her. I finally said I was sorry and wouldn’t hit her, then bribed her with a potato chip. Guess it will be up to mommy and daddy to correct her… grandma’s job is to spoil!

March 2, 2008

Emma is getting so cute, well she always was cute but each time I see her she is growing and doing more and more things. Her favorite saying now is “ah oh” She picked my silk flowers from the bird house, brought them to me and said “ah oh”. She wet her little panties and said “ah oh”. She dropped her lunch down to the dog and said “ah oh” She does it so cute.

Emma loves talking on the phone. She has found a friend who will listen for a while why she jabbers on the phone… it is the recording saying “the number you have reached is not in service”. Now if we can just get her to talk to us while we are on the phone with her!
She has found how well temper tantrums work now. She tries them anyway. The other night she wanted to go outside and Grandpa took her out for a little while. When he tried to get her back in she got mad and stomped her feet saying “Nooo” Grandpa won that argument after a bit. He just picked her up and brought her in.

She has picked up a bad habit of hitting. I don’t know if she does it to see how we react, if she does it because she thinks it is a game or if she does it because she is mad or bored. She hit grandpa the other night and he held her hand and said “Don’t hit, that isn’t nice” then ignored her. She looked down like she was upset and had that puppy dog look. Then she would hit him again and they would go through it all over. His ignoring her after saying that really bothered her I think. I always tell her the same thing, “don’t hit, it isn’t nice” but I also add “I like kisses better” and give her a kiss. I think she was looking for that with grandpa, but he didn’t do it like I do. Now if she hits me while she is mad, I put her down and turn my back to her telling her “I am not going to hold you if you hit” This really bothers her. She gets really upset that grandma won’t hold her. She is getting better about it, so maybe she is getting out of that stage.

Emma got 2 new fish, just little gold fish from Walmart. Brianna tells her that they are fish but she calls them “dada nana” I told Brianna that she must have named them that. It is really cute, I say “Emma how are the fish? How is dada nana?” She laughs and says “dada nana” She is so cute.

This morning I was in the shower when they came over. I could hear her yelling for me through the door. Then she started telling me something in that odd language she uses “yeng yeong yeng…” I said “is that right?” and she said “no” then went on to tell me more, just giggling like it was the best story ever. I said “oh you don’t say” and she just laughed.
She also loves playing the piano and now when she does she gets to singing along with it. Today she stood up on the piano bench and danced while singing and playing, then sat back down and just laughed before singing a more “quieter” song. I do believe she will be a great entertainer when she gets older. Heaven knows she is a great entertainer right now!
