Emma is so funny. She had Kaydence stay the night last Friday night. Allison dropped her off here since Brianna and Emma was here. They came inside to play and Kaydence was playing with the dishes, pots and pans and kitchen set. Emma isn’t so good at sharing yet so when she was going to take something away I said “Kaydence is playing with that, wait your turn ok?” Emma looked at me but left it alone. As soon as Kaydence was done with the dishes, Emma went and got her container for them and started picking them all up and putting them away. Grandpa looked at her in shock since she isn’t known to put her toys away very well. I said “don’t get to excited, she is doing it to keep Kaydence from playing with them, it is easier to keep them all in the container and keeping hold of it.” Who would have thought a 1 year old could figure that all out!!

They took the trees down in front of our house for the road work. This really bothers Emma. She was so bothered by it the other day I had to close the curtains just to calm her down! Then she took Grandpa to the other window and pointed out letting him know she didn’t like it dark. She wanted him to turn on the light again, I suppose so she could go out to play. Kevin kept telling her he can’t turn on the light (the sun), but she was being kind of insistent. Brianna said it bothered her when a Robin kept flying into Grandma Neil’s window and maybe that had something to do with her attention to the dark windows.

Yesterday we went to Spearfish. Her great grandma and grandpa Karlson was there. It was nice to see them again and for them to get to see Emma, although it took her a bit to figure out who they were. Emma is such a good baby, but she was ready to be done shopping before we were. When she seen the checkout stands she started pointing to them, letting me know she wanted to check out and go. Brianna was trying on a swimming suit so we went to read some books while she did that. Afterwards we went through the drive through at Dairy Queen for an Ice cream cone. Emma thought that was a wonderful thing. She was so excited, she would giggle and say “mmmm”. It was so cute. Then it got quiet in the back seat so I looked back and she was sound asleep with the ice cream cone held tightly in her little hand. Her mouth and nose was covered with ice cream. I couldn’t help but laugh. She is such a sweet baby.

Well, we enjoyed our one day of spring. Letting Emma play outside watching the trucks and tractors from the yard. She had a good time, we brought out her 4 wheeler and let her ride on it on the grass. Of course she found the snow and had to tramps through that a bit. She liked it until she got cold hands from playing in it. She also enjoyed her slide. Grandpa came home for a minute and she had to show him how she could go up and down the slide by herself. She started climbing up and looked back to make sure he was watching, checked again when she got to the top and giggled all the way down when he clapped for her and told her “yeah”. She gets so excited over Grandpa.

We watched Jarrod’s dog last weekend. She is a 4 month old puppy, a Whinesmiser or something like that, I never can remember the name of the bred she is. She is a loveable dog, not a mean bone in her body, which is good since she is all legs and already a big dog. She wanted Tara to play so bad but Tara wasn’t impressed and had to put her in her place a few times (each hour, it seemed) Emma loves her though, she would call her Daff, her name is Daffney. Daffney, being the puppy she is, wanted Emma to play with her and she put her mouth over Emma’s hand, fit Emma’s whole hand in her mouth. I really got after the dog on that, I know she wouldn’t bite on purpose but could hurt her not meaning too. This scared Emma big time, she thought when I got after Daffney, that it meant that Daff had bitten. She wouldn’t let me hold her, or let her momma put her down at all. She finally came over to me and showed me her hand saying “owe” I told her that daff didn’t bite, she just put her mouth over Emma’s hand, showing her with sticking her hand in my mouth. After that it was ok. She realized the difference.

Emma is counting to 3 now. She has a toy that does it in Spanish so we never know if we are going to get a two or a dos from her. She seems to know the concept of it all though. I let her take treats out of Tara’s treat jar to give her. I asked how many she wanted to give Tara and she said “three” so I told her to take out three. She reached in and moved her little hand around, I thought for sure she was going to pull out a whole handful but when she dropped them for Tara there was only three. So I told her she could give her more, how many? She said “2” so I let her reach in again and sure enough, she took out just two treats for Tara. I think she knows so much more then she lets on.

Emma is my cooking buddy. We make lunch and dinner together, we bake cookies or brownies and we have so much fun doing it. She hates vegetables but when she makes them she will eat them and tell me “mmmm”. She was always a pretty picky eater but it seems she does so much better when she helps cook it. She made her own grilled cheese sandwich yesterday. I gave her, her little knife and she buttered the bread, in between tasting the butter. She was so excited when we used a cookie cutter to make her sandwich a star. She really ate that well.
Emma has a great imagination. She seems to pretend a lot. Her favorite toys are her fridge DJ which is a radio that has magnets to stick to the fridge and plays music that teaches ABC’s and 123’s and different songs. She loves to dance and sing with it. She also takes it around the house to see where it will stick too. She also really likes her little kitchen set she got for her birthday. She will be playing and stop to go to the sink and “wash” her hands. She turns on the water and rubs her hands under the facet. She also gets herself pretend drinks from it. She found that she can get water to come out of my water dispenser on my fridge so she always pushes the button for it. I finally have to lock it up. She will go get one of her play cups and sit it on there then push the button, but she can’t seem to push the button if the cup is under where the water comes out, so she moves it to the side and ends up having water run down her arm. She always looks at me like “why did it do that?”

We took Emma to Story hour at the library. She really enjoyed it. The librarian read stories on making sandwiches and baking a cake. She had a felt board with sandwich makings and gave all the kids a piece to put on to make the sandwich. When it was Emma’s turn she went right up there, stuck on her green peppers and clapped and yelled “yeah!!” it was so cute. Afterwards they did vegetable rubbings. She was so excited to go to the table and chairs with all the other kids, but when Brianna gave her a crayon to make a vegetable rubbing with, she stuck it in her mouth. I think she thought since all the stories were on food, they were getting a snack! It was so funny.

Emma is so funny. She loves to cook. I say “shall we go make lunch” she will run to the kitchen and push a chair up against the cupboard for her to stand on. We have so much fun together. She is a little homemaker, well, one who doesn’t pick up after herself. She loves to “wash” her dishes in her little sink. She always goes to it and washes her hands too. I can’t keep her out of my dish clothes and towels. She is always wiping down her table and kitchen. Now if we could get her to pick up her toys we could be in business. She also is a good little momma, always kissing on her babies and rocking them, even snoring for them when they are sleeping. She brings me blankets to wrap them up for her. I get such a kick out of her.

She fell down outside yesterday and skinned her little knee. Brianna said when she cleaned it up, Emma screamed bloody murder. She cried with the Band-Aid and the Neosporin. This afternoon when they came over, Brianna told her to show me her owie. When we pulled up her pants leg she cried “Owie… Owie” and I had to hug and kiss her to make it better. Each time we would look at it she would say “owie” like it was still hurting. Kevin even laughed when she pulled it up to show him and cried “owie” all over again. Wonder where she gets that drama queen gene (hmmm Brianna would be my guess).

Emma was walking down the stairs yesterday and she stopped and looked funny then pulled at her diaper. I said “oh you have to potty?” and took her to the potty. She is so funny, she had to have a magazine to read while sitting there. It was so cute I had to snap a picture of it. I guess that is why we call the bathroom “the library”

Emma is eating peas as long as they are from the frozen kind and not canned. I guess that is better for her then the canned vegetables.

Emma is so cute and loveable. She has such a personality. She shows a wonderful sense of humor already. I just can’t believe how fast she is growing up!
