Elmo's green thumb

August 12, 2009

What a big month we have had. We have been keeping busy and summer is going by so fast. Emma is growing big so fast and getting so smart. She surprises us with all the stuff she says, some way beyond her years.
August has brought us the Crook county fair and of course the Sturgis bike rally. She really enjoyed the fair, doing the crafts and going to see the magician. She really really liked that magician. She was sitting in front of me and I leaned down and said "how does he do that Emma?" and she turned and put her hand on my knee and said "Grandma, I don't know" so matter of factly. She really liked his bubble gum trick and that he made a balloon crown for her.

Rally week she stayed with me and we had a good time. Rally wednesday I had Bailey and Aiden also, so I had a 1 year old, 2 year old and 3 year old. Emma did really well sharing her toys, I was quite proud of her not taking away or telling them that they are her toys. Bailey and Aiden argued over the little crazy coupe car of Emma's and Emma didn't say much until she came to me and said "Grandma, I really really want to play with that" I told her "you get to play with it all the time, they aren't here that much so lets let them have a turn first ok?" She said on and went to play on her trike. All went well and the next morning we were laying down reading a book and I asked if she liked having Aiden and Bailey there too play with all day" She looked at me and said "yes, but I started feeling a little cranky having to share my toys all day" I was surprised since she never showed it and was tickled that she could speak out her feelings like that without acting out on them. She is a good little girl.

Friday night Brianna, Emma and I went to Casper and stayed at a hotel. Emma thought that was a lot of fun and we decided to go to the mall after we got checked into the hotel. Emma was all for going to the mall and when we got there I said "Emma, you ready to go shopping?" She answered "we aren't going shopping... we are going to the MALL" lol don't know what she thought the mall was.
Saturday went to the Trails museum that Grandpa Kevin and Jordan had worked on doing all the electrical for it. She really had fun with that and enjoyed the wagon ride they have in it.

The highlight and reason we went there though was to see Elmo's Green Thumb. We had told her we were going to see Elmo but she didn't really understand. She would tell everyone "we are going to see Elmo" but when the characters started coming out right in front of us her eyes grew as big as silver dollars and her mouth dropped open. She was totally in love with the show and then was dancing in the isle during the intermission. I had my phone out to video her dancing when elmo came out dancing right behind her. She ran over to him for a hug and when he finished his dance, he grabbed her and a little boy next to her in a quick hug then danced off up to the stage. Emma was going to follow him right up there. I got it on video and she gets so excited when she sees it. After the hug and we got back to our seats she would grab me around the neck on one side and her mom around the neck on the other and pull our heads to her shoulders saying "I love you I love you" I take it the show was a hit.

Yesterday was my birthday and she thought it would be her's too. I told her we are going to Grandma Merts for a birthday party and she was all excited. We had dinner and then cake and ice cream and after opening the cards she came up to me and said "when is the birthday party going to start?" She expected hats and balloons like what she had. She also picked up a new word. I thought I heard it when she was playing in the dirt earlier but I wasn't sure. When we were at Grandma Mert's she was trying to fold up a little folding chair and she said "Damn it!" when she couldn't. My mom looked at me and said "did she just say.." I said "yep" and then after hiding my laughing about it, turned to her and said "Emma we don't say that word" She said "why?" I said "because it is a naughty word" She said "oh ok" and went on playing. It might be funny in a 2 year old but it isn't in a 4 year old so need to put a stop to it now.

Next month is her birthday. It is so hard to believe. She also will be old enough for Sunday school and I am going to start teaching the Preschool class so I will be her teacher. It should be fun.
