August 26, 2008

It has been a busy month so far. It is hard to believe in just one month Emma will be 2 years old! Time is going way to fast and she is growing up more and more each day. She is really showing her personality now. She is also getting into that 2 year old stage of what is mine is mine… what is yours is mine… what I want is mine… what I might want later is mine… While she does pretty well with most of it and doesn’t act selfish or insecure, she does make me want to go out and get anything she wants for her. We went to Emilee’s birthday party on Friday. There has always been a sharing issue with Emilee and Emma but they have been getting better. Emma had a little bit of trouble with the idea that there was lots of presents and they weren’t hers to open, but she did fine on watching. She had a little more trouble when Emilee got a Power wheel Barbie car from her daddy. Emma wanted to drive it so bad and when she got the chance she found she wasn’t big enough to reach the “gas” pedal so after that she was content to have Emilee give her rides in it. They had so much fun. Then Emilee’s grandpa Corey and grandma Kim brought their present to her. It was a miniature pony. That was something Emma wanted so bad, she loves horsies. On the way home I said “Wasn’t that a neat Barbie car Emilee got for her birthday?” and Emma said “yes” and I said “Did you like that pony Emilee got for her birthday too?” Emma said “MINE” I told her that it was Emilee’s pony and I wish I could get her one but there is no where for the pony to live if she got one. We can’t keep it in town. I did pick her up a little stuffed pony shopping yesterday though. She is just glad to have a horsie.

After staying with me all that time, Emma is starting to have anxiety trouble when she isn’t with her mommy. I think it is because she knows things have changed and mommy is really sad. It might also be because Grandpa Ron isn’t around when she goes to his house and now she worries that if she isn’t around mommy, she might not ever see her again either. In any case, she cried and cried for her mommy while she was in the doctors office and I was in the waiting room with her. It really bothered her. Then last night she was going to spend the night with me since it was Jordan and Brianna’s 1st anniversary. All was going well until about 8pm. She started wanting to go see mommy. I said “aren’t you going to sleep with Grandma tonight?” She pointed to the car and said “Mommy” wanting me to take her home. So I took her home to her mommy and she was so happy to see mommy and daddy…. Right up until mommy told her that she couldn’t have a sucker. She got really upset with mommy for not giving in and letting her have it she went to the door and looked at me and said “Home” I said “you want grandma to go home?” She said “Yes, me too” She wanted me to take her back home with me… where she can have what she wants, I think. Earlier she went to the garage with Grandpa and told him she was thirsty. He has a mini fridge out there with bottled water and pop and well, his beer too. He asked what she wanted and she chose grape pop. He gives her the whole can! I told him “Kevin, you know grandparents are suppose to spoil grandchildren and give them anything they want, but you have to be smart about it and not give them all the sugar stuff unless they are going home with their parents. You don’t load them up on sugar when they are spending the night with you!” With that Emma looked up at Grandpa and said “ya”. It was so funny… if she only knew what she was agreeing with!

Grandpa made her mad when he brought her in the house to me. She wanted to play outside and he wanted to work in the garage. She was bawling when they came in and after I got her calmed down I said “was grandpa being mean? Should I go out and get after him?” Through her tears she said “Yes”. Awwww I told grandpa about it and he said he wasn’t being mean to her but he spent the rest of the evening trying to make it up to her. He carried her picnic table down from the living room since she wanted to eat at it. I said that she wants to eat at it outside, that is why she didn’t want it in the living room. So he took it outside and we had dinner outside… well Kevin and I did, she was too busy playing to eat her dinner (which is why she couldn’t have the sucker until she ate something more at home).

All in all, Emma is a sweet and perfect child who I love more then life itself. She is so good with sharing if she gets candy, even if she doesn’t always want to share toys. She is smart and can let you know exactly what she wants when she wants it. I sing “E M M A” and she repeats “E E E E” and sometimes she will say “E M E E” So we are working on that. She also sings Old McDonald now. I can tell that is what she is singing because she sings “IEIO” instead of “EIEIO” She is so much fun. Her new favorite thing to say is “No Way!” She was looking at a hunting magazine at the doctors office yesterday and seen a page with about 5 deer on it. She looked at it and said “No Way!” and had all the elderly women in there laughing. She also recognizes PT Cruisers now. She sees them and starts saying “Cassie!” She loves her aunt Cassie and really gets to missing her when she doesn’t see her often. She carries around her book of her birth or the first birthday party and opens it to find Cassie holding her. She goes around saying “ Cassie… Cassie”

She spent the weekend with Cassie, well she, her mommy and daddy. They had a good time with baking brownies and going swimming. Brianna said she is attached to Cassie’s hip the whole time she is there. Sunday night when the kids got home I got a phone call from Cassie asking if the kids made it home yet and I said yes. She started crying and I said “what’s wrong?” She said “I just hate it when they leave, I miss Emma so much. I love her so much.” Grandma Lois use to say that after we left after staying with her for a weekend also. Emma is one very loved little girl.
