Emma all dolled up for lunch with Emilee

Emma seems to be maturing so fast now. She can’t even pass as a toddler anymore, more like a preschooler. She is potty trained even at night, she can dress herself, she can help herself to the juices in the fridge and make her own sandwich. She speaks very well and we can understand most of what she says and she has an imagination that beats all imaginations. She makes us laugh daily and is starting to figure out her mom and dad and of course she always knew how to work her grandma and papa. She also isn’t listening quite as well as she use too and sasses back a little more… she is just like Aunt Cassie was at this age.
Emma spent the night with me a few weeks ago, I put a diaper on her before bed so I didn’t have to worry about bed wetting. When she woke up in the morning I asked her if she had to go potty. She replied “No, I ok” So thinking of her going all night and not needing to go potty, I had to ask “Did you wet your diaper?” She was a bit indigent about my asking THAT question so she looked at me and said “No… Did YOU potty YOUR panties?” How can you not laugh at that??
I was cooking dinner and since my smoke detector is right on the other side of the door way to the kitchen it sets it off quite often. Emma was in the living room and heard the smoke detector beep she came down to the kitchen announcing “Dinner’s Ready!”
I turned off the light when Emma and I were going to sleep in what she now calls “My pink bedroom” instead of grandma’s room. She got a little nervous and said “I scared, it’s dark” I said “your eyes will adjust in a minute to the darkness but there is nothing to be scared of. There isn’t anything in the dark that isn’t there in the light, you just don’t see it… besides Grandma is here with you” She thought about it a moment and said “ok, I scared no more” Then we started talking about when I was a little girl and would spend the night with my grandma and get to cuddle with her in bed and thinking how special that is. Then she wanted me to sing songs… mostly Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang and I said my favorite song is “Oh Emmalyne, Oh Emmalyne, How I love my Emmalyne” She said “I don’t like that song!” I asked why when it says Emmalyne and I love you at the same time. She answered “my name is Emma, not Emmalyne” I said “oh your name is Emmalyne Lillian Gose and we call you Emma because it is so long to say Emmalyne all the time, but that is a special name and a pretty name” Then we talked about everyone’s names. We talked about her last name being Gose just like mommy and daddy, grandma and papa’s, grandma Eda’s and grandpa Don’s, uncle Jarrod and Aunt Cassie all get to have the last name Gose, just like hers. She thought this was pretty cool and said Emmalyne Lillian Gose a few times. She is so cute.
We were all sitting at dinner and she wanted to say grace. We all had to hold hands and she bowed her head and said “Thank you baby Jesus…. Amen” She calls Him Baby Jesus because that is what we call Him at Christmas in the manger and sing happy birthday to Him. She then got a bit shy with us all looking at her so she kept pulling her shirt up. Brianna said “Keep your shirt down, remember we talked about private parts” Remembering that conversation with mom, she proudly turned to Papa sitting next to her, lifting her shirt and said “Papa… see my boobs?” Kevin was laughing so hard he had tears from his eyes. She certainly keeps everyone on their toes!
This week Emma has been fighting a cold. Poor thing has been miserable. Brianna said she is finally getting better today. Monday we are going to Rapid City and looking for a Easter dress for her then we will go get her pictures taken at Sears again. I can’t wait. I keep thinking we will cut it back to just once a year but she is still changing enough that every six months is better. I will run out of wall space soon though if I keep having her pictures taken!
We are also going to go through some of the toys and sell them at a garage sale and put the money in her savings account. Not any of the toys she still plays with, but ones that she is outgrown from the baby age. I have three rooms in my house with toys for her and she is only 2 and half! She has so many at home also that needs to be going through and organized so she can find them. I think then the toys we keep we will put part of them away and rotate them. Right now her favorite is her doll house from Santa. I know I will never afford to spoil another grandchild as much as I have Emma!
