March 20, 2009

I always thought Jordan had a quick wit about him, but I do believe Emmalyne surpasses even Jordan at this age. She is so funny and it amazes me how her little mind works. I don’t think her little mind ever stops. She is at the age where she repeats everything she hears and tells me all about what is happening in her life. She also dramatizes everything which makes me laugh. Her parents were wrestling on the bed one day and she ended up in the path of a foot. The next day she was here and told me how her mom hit her in the mouth. I know Brianna wouldn’t ever slap or hit Emma, she barely touches her when she spanks her. Emma was so insistent that I asked Brianna about it. She told me how she got hit in the mouth with the wrestling. Then one day we were going out to Grandma Mert’s and Emma told me “go fast grandma… go fast like Mommy”. Brianna still doesn’t live that one down! She is so funny.

I took Emma into the doctor at the beginning of March and she had an ear infection. She watched “Elmo Goes to the Doctor” before we went. One little boy in the movie said his doctor always says he is checking his ears for rabbits when he looks in the ear. Even though she was excited to go to the doctor like Elmo, she got a little nervous when we went into the room. Mary Jane, the nurse told her what the doctor was going to do and surprised me when she said that the doctor will look in her ears, checking for rabbits. Dr. Patty came in and checked Emma out, looking in her throat, ears and listening to her heartbeat and lungs. When she was done I put Emma on the floor and she looked up to Dr. Patty and said “did you see any rabbits?” Patty said “no, there wasn’t any rabbits in there” and Emma said “ok, thank you for checking my ears” Dr. Patty thought that was so cute, she went out and told everyone she seen about it. Each time she took her meds she would say “I take it all gone, just like Elmo”

I had made ham steaks for supper one night while Jordan was out of town for school, so Brianna and Emma were eating over. I put the plate in front of Emma and she cleared a spot off her plate and told me “grandma, I need lotion” She meant Ketchup of course, but I got a giggle out of her “lotion” Then the other night she spent the night with me and I fixed a pot roast with carrots and potatoes. Emma is crazy about black olives so I always try to keep some around here even though I don’t like them. I put some black olives on her plate along with the other items and she proceeded to eat her roast and the black olives and not touching her potatoes and carrots. I told her she needed to at least try the carrots. She said “I don’t like them” and I kept trying to get her to try one bite at least. I told her “just one bite and if you don’t like them, you won’t have to eat anymore”. Finally she moved the container of black olives in front of me and said “here… YOU eat these!” Two years old and she shut me up pretty fast! She isn’t sassy at all is she!

Emma is still fighting the ear infection. I took her back into the doctor and she changed her meds to a gritty, horrible tasting medicine. The doctor told me to give her a bite of cracker or cookie then the medicine and then let her finish the cracker to hide the grittiness of it. After we got done we went to Grandma Mert’s to let her and Emilee play. Emilee had been to the doctor earlier in the week for back pain and was told to drink more water. At lunch, the girls sat at the little table discussing their doctor visits. Three year old Emilee said “my doctor told me I had to drink more water” Two year old Emma looked at her and said “My doctor told me I had to eat cookies!” I was laughing so hard listening to them.
I made Emma’s Easter dress and took it out to show my mom. Emilee and Emma had to wear their dresses and dance around for us. I also made a sundress with Little Mermaid material for Emma and a matching one for her doll, which she put on her Cookie Monster doll. She had a lot of fun with that, telling everyone “see we match”. Then she talked Grandpa Lee into getting out his guitar but wasn’t able to sit and listen to him play for long. I remember when I was young how my dad would play the guitar all the time and sing funny little songs like “I drew a mustache on your picture, would have wrote you a letter too… but didn’t know how to spell yuck… and that’s all I have to say to you” he always called that “mom’s song” and we would roll on the floor laughing. My poor mom, taking such abuse at the delight of her 4 children!

Yesterday we went to Gillette to see Cassie. Emma is so crazy about aunt Cassie, I don’t think she even sees anyone else around her when Cassie is near. I actually don’t think Cassie sees anyone else either. Brianna is so easy going, she lets us spoil Emma all the time. I am sure there isn’t anyone who is more loved by so many people then that little girl, we are so lucky to have her in our lives.
